Norfolk ACF - Excellent 2011 For Thetford Detachments Army Cadets
Thetford detachment finished 2011 with a clean sweep win of all three major competitions at the Cadet Norfolk Engineer weekend where all eight detachments competed. The three major competitions were:
The George Pratt Shoot - where teams of four shoot at targets on a 25 metre range.
The Housego Cup - where cadets have to complete a wide range of stands varying from first aid to command tasks, navigation and radio communication.
The Mason Shield – where teams work together on a night navigation exercise.
Earlier in the year on annual camp, Thetford were awarded the coveted Norfolk Cup which runs over the course of a year. All 27 detachments within the Norfolk ACF compete in this event which encompasses everything from marks for good attendance to Duke of Edinburgh awards, sports events and star passes in the Cadet syllabus throughout the year.
Detachment Commander Staff Sergeant Chris Cocksedge wished to pass on his thanks to all the cadets and staff who have helped makeThetford the highest ranked detachment in Norfolk for 2011.
Chris said: “This has been a very successful year at Thetford, but we can’t get complacent as we need to focus on the New Year ahead and see if we can match our achievements from 2011.”
