The Cadets in the group photographs are Left to Right: Cdt Vandenberg; Cdt Halls, Cpl Tobin (in the cockpit); Cdt Ray & Cdt Brown. After weeks of rebuilding, the Wymondham (1986) Squadron Air Cadets’ flight simulator has been returned to its rightful place at their squadron. The Hunter F Mk 6 cockpit has been with the Squadron for many years and they are proud to, once again, have it featured in their main hall. The Hunter F Mk 6 has a maximum speed of 715 mph at sea level, with a range of 1,840 miles at 515 mph. The cockpit seats one pilot, so one cadet at a time can experience flying within a Hunter cockpit.

The Cadets in the cockpit photograph are Cdt Brown and Cpl Tobin.Commanding Officer, Pilot Officer Jason Offer, said “This is a great opportunity for the cadets. It will give them a more realistic introduction to flight. On the flight simulator training will mean far better understanding for the cadets for when they really go flying while also giving them an idea of what to expect.”

The Hunter cockpit is now available for the cadet to use, giving them the chance to experience solo flight before or after their experience of true flight within the Air Training Corps. The cadets meet every Wednesday and Thursday night from 7.00 pm to 9.30 pm. To find out more, contact Pilot Officer Offer on 01953 601210 on the meeting evenings.
